1 John 2:5, 6 - 5 but whoever keeps his word, in him truly the love of God is perfected. By this we may know that we are in him: 6whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked. (ESV)

Walking in the light… walking with Jesus. So here’s some questions…

How did Jesus walk?
How does that compare with how you walk?
What needs to change in your life?
Pray asking that God show you how your walk is… whether in the light or dark and how to strengthen your own light, so you can show others the way…

1 John 2:3-4 - 3 And by this we know that we have come to know him, if we keep his commandments. 4 Whoever says “I know him” but does not keep his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him

John kicks our teeth in with this… He says that anyone who doesn’t do what God says, but tells others they believe in God… are just plain liars. If we don’t obey what God says… what good is that? Does this mean that if we fall, we’re not Christians? Of course not… but there is a difference between trying and not trying… Are you trying?
In what ways are you having trouble obeying God?
Pray that you have the strength to grow, to pick yourself up when you fall and to shine…

1 John 2:2 - He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but(B) also for the sins of the whole world. (ESV)

John talks about Jesus dying for our sins… but not only for us, but for everyone in the world. So why isn’t everyone going to heaven?
Think of it like a Christmas gift… its sitting there under the tree, waiting to be opened… but if you don’t open it, you don’t get what’s inside… Its the same way with God, He offers this grace, but we have to accept it.
Pray that you realize how amazing God’s love is, and that he offers it to everyone… pray that you will be able to share this wonderful gift with those around you…

1 John 2:1 - My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. (ESV)

John says that we have someone who stands in… he is the advocate (like a lawyer, but not a liar… eheh). He speaks on our behalf to God, so that we can have confidence when approaching God.
How does it make you feel to know that Jesus is your advocate before God?
Pray, asking that you can realize how blessed you are in God… and thank Jesus for being your advocate, and for your sins that have been forgiven.
