Today I’ll be talking about servers… media and file.
Blue and White Powermac G3
This one is a G3 400 with ~600mb of RAM, running Mac OS X Tiger, also known as our media server. This old computer (originally introduced in January 1999) has run well for us the past couple of years as our media [...]

I’ve been thinking about what technology I use in my youth ministry, and it got me thinking about several things. First, being content with what I have, and second, using what I have to the best I can. One of the best ways to be content is to acknowledge how much you can [...]

After installing Leopard on my “old” iBook G4… twice (more on that in a bit) I can sum up my experience with a truthful “wow”. Not because of the install issues (self-inflicted), but because, once again, the newest operating system from Apple actually speeds up my aging Mac! Oh, and Time Machine is amazing…

My iBook made it back home safely from the good people at iResq. They did an excellent job, and my iBook now has far more space then I need at this time. Woohoo! I wholeheartedly recommend going with iResq if you have any mac/ipod repair needs. http://www.iresq.com

Xbox Media Center is pretty amazing. It makes the xbox a full on media center pc (without the cost…) Right now I’m streaming music from my Powermac G3 to the xbox, and I can view movies and pictures across the network. I’m pretty impressed. If you have a Mac and can’t [...]

Monday, I mowed Barbara Cambell’s lawn for 3 hours. That doesn’t include trimming or the finishing touches, which I will get done tomorrow. And that is on a rider mower. Yea… it was tall. It hadn’t been mowed in quite a while, and my hands became green (you wouldn’t like me [...]

Ah… Dillon left us yesterday evening. He went back home with his grandparents, and was very happy to see them. I think Sara and I had just gotten used to having him around, and now he’s gone… Baby withdrawls…
The enclosure for the external hd I use on the Powermac G3 died last night… [...]
